Frequently AskedQuestions
-
What amenities are included?
Each home has its own features – check the room or apartment description for details. But one thing's always guaranteed: a bed to sleep in and a couch to relax on. And honestly, isn't that all you really need? Maastricht is far too fun to spend all day indoors.
Then again... some guests come especially for our secret-door cellars. A few homes have hidden spaces used for game nights, wine, beer, cocktail or whisky tastings. Others offer extra rooms with soundproofing or mood lighting – perfect for podcasts or other creative moments. Some even share private courtyards, ideal for cozy garden gatherings.
See something in a listing and wonder “wait... is that possible too?” Just ask us – we love creative ideas.

How far are the properties from the city centre?
Our homes are located in the heart of Maastricht. The Vrijthof – the furthest major square – is about 1.5 km away on foot. Everything else is even closer. In fact, just cross the street and you’re right in one of Maastricht’s main streets or on one of its central bridges.
Within just 3 minutes’ walk, you’ll already find the first cosy cafés and restaurants.
The real question is: will you even walk those 1.5 km? Because every part of Maastricht feels like a charming little village of its own.
-
Is parking available at the properties?
Parking in Maastricht
Paid parking applies in garages and on the street in Maastricht. Street parking is paid from Monday to Saturday between 08:00 and 18:00, and on Thursdays until 21:00. On Sundays, paid parking applies from 12:00 to 18:00. Outside these hours – and on public holidays (unless otherwise indicated, like shopping evenings) – parking is free.
The best and most affordable covered parking near the apartment is Q-Park P+R Maastricht Central Station (Parallelweg) or Q-Park De Griend, both about 350 meters or 4 minutes' walk – directly behind the building.
Paid parking is also available at Sterreplein and nearby streets, around 180 meters and 2 minutes’ walk.
Although most of Maastricht’s center is for permit holders only, loading and unloading is always allowed, so feel free to drop off your bags first before parking.
The city center is car-free, so the best way to get around is on foot, by public transport or rental bike. Within 1–2 minutes' walk from the apartment you’ll find several bus stops with buses running every 5 to 10 minutes to the city center.
Buses in Maastricht usually run until late in the evening – most lines have their last departure around 23:00 or 24:00. For exact times and routes, check the Arriva website or the 9292.nl planner.
-
What is the check-in and check-out time?
Check-in is from 15:00 (3:00 PM) and check-out is at 11:00 (11:00AM). If you need flexible times, feel free to contact us in advance, and we'll do our best to accomodate your needs.
-
Are the properties family-friendly?
The apartments are designed for 2 adult guests who want to enjoy and explore the city together.
Of course, you're welcome to bring your own air mattress if you're okay with sharing the space with more people. There’s enough room for extra beds or guests, as long as everyone respects the house rules.
Please do let us know your plans in advance. We’re required to pay tourist tax per guest, and in some cases it might be more practical to book two adjacent rooms or apartments – giving your group or family access to a full floor of the building.
-
Are the accommodations wheelchair accessible?
Our accommodations are not considered wheelchair accessible.
Most of our properties are located in characteristic buildings in Maastricht, which often involve 2 to 3 steps to the front door. Additionally, we cannot guarantee that all doorways are at least 81 cm wide.
-
How is tourist tax paid?
Tourist tax in Maastricht is charged per person per overnight stay (per night). For current rates, please check the Municipality of Maastricht website under “Tourist Tax”.
When booking through this website, both VAT and tourist tax are included in the final payment, so there are no surprises at checkout.
When booking via a platform such as Booking.com or Airbnb, they each collect VAT and tourist tax in their own way. More information can be found on the respective websites.
-
What is the level of the students and is the service always consistent?
We work with students in their 2nd to 4th year of studies. That means they've left their "party-first, blindly-follow-older-students" phase behind. Only those who are serious, responsible, and genuinely enjoy contributing to a great guest experience get to work with us.
Of course, they’re still learning. We standardise a lot to avoid mistakes, but perfection is not guaranteed. What is guaranteed? Enthusiasm. If we make a noticeable mistake, we’ll go the extra mile to make it right—with a smile.
So no, the service isn’t always exactly the same. But the passion? Always.
-
Can I stay longer than 30 days, even if the calendar shows no availability?
Yes, that’s possible!
The availability shown in our booking calendar is limited for longer stays. If you’d like to stay for more than 30 days, just send us a message with your preferred check-in and check-out dates.
We’ll then offer you a custom quote and a temporary rental agreement, which also allows you to register with the municipality of Maastricht, if needed.
Stays are flexible – up to 6 months – and ideal for international students, PhD candidates, researchers, expats, or people in transition (e.g. between homes or after a separation).
-
Is booking directly with you cheaper?
Yes!
Booking directly through our website is always cheaper. You’ll save at least 14%, and sometimes up to 40%, depending on the platform you would otherwise use (like Booking.com or Airbnb).
We avoid paying high commissions – and we pass those savings on to you!

How does the concept work where you can earn back your rent — or even make a profit?
We connect motivated candidates to rooms owned by private landlords. You’ll get a room under a temporary rental agreement and manage at least that room (possibly more).
We agree on a base rent, a revenue and profit target (GOP), and a commission for us in return for providing time, expertise, digital tools, and access to our Channel Manager and website. On that platform, you’ll set pricing and cost strategies for yourself, the guest, and the landlord. Everything you earn above the target is shared between you and the owner.
This means you can earn back part of your rent — and with great service and smart strategy, even generate profit.
We act as an intermediary and take care of local permits, compliance, and all required digital infrastructure.
It’s a hands-on learning concept for hospitality-minded students, and a smart alternative for landlords in a declining rental market.
For hotel school students (HMSM): This is HOTS in real life — small-scale, real money, real cycles.
